For Charlotte Del Col, running the Boston Marathon® isn’t just about endurance or personal achievement—it’s about carrying a message of hope.

“I believe really strongly in Samaritans’ mission. And I really wanted to make it clear to those in my network that I could act as a resource and a source of support for them.”
Charlotte has always been passionate about mental health, but it was only after she ran the Boston Marathon for Samaritans last year that she realized how much the organization would impact her life. She was deeply inspired by the stories of her teammates and others in the Samaritans community.
“Every mile I ran, every hard day of training—I knew I was doing it for someone. I realized I was part of something much bigger than myself.”
One of the most unexpected rewards was the flood of connections it sparked within Charlotte’s own community.
“Once I started running for Samaritans, more and more people in my network started coming forward telling me times that they had been impacted by suicide, or times that they had utilized Samaritans services.”
It made me realize that I was running for something much, much bigger than myself.
Following last year’s powerful experience, Charlotte is returning to Team Samaritans to tackle the Boston Marathon a second time. Her journey is fueled by the connections she’s made, and the impact she knows her efforts have on others.
“If I’m able to help just one person through the work that I’ve been doing, I will feel fulfilled. And I’m hopeful that it’s way more than just one person. Anything that I can do, I’m here to help. I love assisting Samaritans with its mission.”
