2025 Community Gathering on Suicide Prevention

On October 23, 2025, we gathered at the PwC office in Seaport for the Community Gathering on Suicide Prevention: Samaritans Annual Meeting. The evening included a special reception for campaign donors, and a program celebrating how the Every Conversation Counts campaign is helping Samaritans reach more people, improve through innovation, and strengthen our team and impact. Whether you joined us as a member of the Samaritans staff, Board, or Council, you’re a volunteer, trainer, facilitator, or you support our work in another way, we truly appreciate everything you do to prevent suicide and offer hope.

This year’s keynote speaker, Kyle Anagnos, shared the powerful story of how suicide has touched three generations of his family, and how he is committed to breaking the cycle through his work with Samaritans.

Kyle has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Samaritans by running the 2021 TCS NYC Marathon and the 2025 Boston Marathon®. He also earned Samaritans a $150,000 grant by leading a team at the 2024 Blackstone Gives Back Challenge—funding that is now expanding critical services for LGBTQ+ youth and other high-risk groups.

The race was never just about me. It was for Josh, for my uncles, for my grandfather who buried two of his sons before passing away two weeks before the race, and for anyone who has ever wondered if they can keep going.

In addition to raising awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention, Kyle inspires people to turn pain into purpose.

“In a time when diversity and inclusion efforts are being erased and rolled back across industries, we showed the opposite: That mental health is not a partisan issue. It is a universal issue – one that unites all of us.”

This year’s gathering was an opportunity to express gratitude to the many members of our community who have supported the organization’s growth. Of note, we honored Chief Campaign Officer Janet Lawn, who joined Samaritans in 2014 and has been the heartbeat of the Every Conversation Counts campaign. She will be transitioning out of Samaritans this year, and we are so thankful for the lasting impact she has had on our organization.

We set an ambitious goal of raising $26 million for our campaign and as of this event, we are 92% of the way there, having raised just under $24 million. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. It is truly the result of our entire Samaritans community coming together for a common goal.

Samaritans is pleased to announce The Manton Foundation has generously offered to match new gifts, including extensions of current commitments, up to $1 million. Gifts up to $50,000 will be matched 1-to-1, while gifts of $50,000 or more will be matched 2-to-1. This means you can double or even triple your impact with your gift.

We have just $2 million left to reach our goal. Learn more about how you can help us make every conversation count.
