Welcome Rebecca, Phoebe, and Yarisa to our team!

Rebecca Allen (she/her), pictured left

Rebecca Allen joined Samaritans in August 2020 as Leadership Gifts Officer! She brings two decades of nonprofit fundraising experience. Rebecca was an integral part of the development efforts at the Elizabeth Stone House, including collaborating on a multi-million dollar capital campaign. She graduated from Wittenberg University in 1997 with a degree in psychology, and in 2018 she completed Boston University Questrom School of Business Nonprofit Management and Leadership Certificate Program. Today she is thrilled to contribute to the vital mission at Samaritans. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, three children, and their pets.

Phoebe Whitwell (she/her), pictured center

Phoebe Whitwell joined Samaritans in September 2020 as Salesforce CRM Manager! She brings a degree in Civil Engineering, experience with nonprofit database management, and a passion for developing effective data systems to the role. For Phoebe, joining Samaritans is an opportunity to support the vital work of mental health wellness in the greater Boston area, which has been her home for nearly ten years. Phoebe spends her time outside of work organizing with SURJ Boston, hiking, and having fun with friends in Boston and family in North Carolina.

Yarissa Diaz (she/her), pictured right

Yarisa Diaz joined Samaritans in September 2020 as our new Helpline Training Coordinator! Yarisa has been with Samaritans for two years in many different capacities. She started as a Brandeis University intern on the Helpline and then in February 2020, she transitioned to staff as an Overnight Helpline Coordinator! She graduated from Brandeis with a major in Psychology and a minor in Education Studies in May. Outside of Samaritans, Yarisa is the proud dog-mom of her overly energetic puppy, Carolina! When she isn’t outside on an adventure with Carolina, Yarisa enjoys unwinding with music, Netflix, or a good book. She is excited about joining the Samaritans team full-time and continuing towards her goal of a career in mental health non-profit work!
