Join Samaritans Boston Marathon Team!

Boston Marathon® Date: April 17, 2023
Application Deadline: Wednesday, October 7th at 12:00pm EST

Samaritans has participated as a partner of the John Hancock Marathon Non-Profit Program for the past 15 years and looks forward to cheering on Team Samaritans at the 127th running of the Boston Marathon! The selection of runners for the 2023 Samaritans Marathon Team is competitive and applications will be evaluated based on each applicant’s proposed fundraising commitment/plan, personal story, connection to the organization and mission, and commitment to completing the Boston Marathon.

Our continued participation as a partner in the John Hancock Marathon Non-Profit Program is largely based upon our team’s fundraising success. Our Marathon team’s fundraising represents a significant portion of Samaritans’ operating budget, allowing us to serve more people.

It is very important that runners on our team fulfill their fundraising commitments. We require a minimum fundraising commitment of $10,000/runner, with the understanding that one fourth ($2,500) of your commitment must be met by February 3, 2023 in order for us to release your Boston Marathon registration. We require that you submit a credit card number which will be charged for any shortfall toward that one fourth benchmark, or if you do not reach your final commitment by May 1, 2023. Please note that your application will not be considered complete until you have paid the $26 application fee. A link to pay the fee will be provided after you submit this form.

As part of Samaritans Marathon Team you will receive:

  • Running Singlet and other Samaritans Team gear
  • Official 2023 Boston Marathon® medal
  • Post-Marathon Party in Boston
  • Team Meet and Greet Video Call
  • Fundraising Support
  • Access to Marathon Training Program with Acclaimed Training Coach, John Furey

Please use Google Chrome when completing this application form. Once you have completed the application, you will be redirected to a website to pay a one-time, $26 application fee. Applicants will only be considered for Team Samaritans once the fee has been paid.

If you have questions about the team or application process, or if you have qualified or otherwise secured your own bib for the Marathon and would like to join Team Samaritans, please contact Chris Chirco at [email protected]

Samaritans Boston Marathon Team Application 2023

  • This is required for the B.A.A. Marathon registration. Runners can run under their identified gender.
  • Communication

  • Running Experience

  • Personal Story and Connection to Samaritans

  • Fundraising Commitment and Plan

Samaritans runners are required to commit to raising at least $10,000. Setting an ambitious, yet realistic, fundraising commitment is very important as team members who do not meet their commitment jeopardize Samaritans' chances of receiving entries from the John Hancock program in the future. We require team members to submit credit card information to meet any shortfall.
  • If selected, you will be responsible for raising this amount and submitting a credit card number to pay any shortfall. Commitment levels will be considered when selecting the team, but please be realistic in what you can commit to raise.
  • This is the amount that you hope to raise. We encourage runners to aim for a goal higher than their financial commitment.
