In 2021, Emily Nelson and Cole Cuzzi lost one of their closest friends, Jack, to suicide. To honor him, they joined Team Samaritans for the 2025 Boston Marathon. Together, they raised more than $25,000 for suicide prevention.
“We were dedicated to running the Boston Marathon for those who have lost their mental health battle and for those who continue to fight,” they said. “We were honored to run in memory of Jack and for every person who needs to know they’re not alone.”
A Community of Raising Hope
In 2025, Samaritans supporters raised millions through hosting or attending fundraising events. There are many ways to support Samaritans. Some people make individual gifts, attend events like our Breakfast for Hope, or participate in the Boston Marathon®, TCS New York City Marathon, and Samaritans 5K Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention.
Many of these dedicated individuals are themselves affected by a suicide loss or attempt. We continue to be inspired by—and grateful for—their commitment and support.
