2015 5K Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention was a big success!
Samaritans’ 5K Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention took place on Saturday, September 26th in Artesani Park. More than 3,000 people joined us at Artesani Park to walk, run, or volunteer to prevent suicide. When you looked out at the crowds of teams, families and friends, you knew you are not alone. We ran for those we remember. We walked for those we loved. We came together to make a difference.
We’ve met our goal but you can still give! Every dollar raised for the 5K goes directly back to Samaritans’ lifesaving programs – programs which do come at a cost. We need your help to be here for everyone in need of a compassionate listener, a group of survivors that understands their pain, and education to prevent future tragedy. Click here to make a gift. Your gift will help us:
- Support the launch of local crisis text support on the Massachusetts State-Wide Helpline, 877-870-HOPE(4673) new as of Thursday, October 1st!
- Answering the crisis phone line in the wee hours of the night
- Expanded community outreach and education to prevent suicide
We especially want to thank our top fundraisers for the amazing contributions they have made:
- Top fundraising individual not on a team: Marsha Grollman raised $1,307.
- Top fundraising individual on a team: Kara Hines of Katherine’s Pride raised $21,573.
- Largest team: Christian’s Team, with 75 members
The top three fundraising teams:
- Edward’s Team with $12,252
- Kathy’s Team with $21,870
- Katherine’s Pride with $27,178
