Emma Albright has been involved with Samaritans for four years and is thrilled to join the Board of Directors. As a former Samaritans volunteer, mentor to new volunteers, and Homeleader, Emma had the privilege of coming to know those who use our services, and the many paths that may lead a person to pick up the phone, write a text, or visit a SafePlace meeting.
As a clinical social worker at Boston Children’s Hospital, Emma is moved by children and families who remind her of the far-reaching relevance of our services. Her work at Samaritans and as a social worker has illustrated that, simply by being human, we are all vulnerable to circumstances that could leave us grasping for hope. Emma is also reminded of the resilience that can arise from human connection and a space to be heard.
The impact of Samaritans life-saving services, and the scope of the population we serve now and in the future cannot be underestimated. Emma believes wholeheartedly in Samaritans’ mission and the services we provide and is proud to continue her involvement in this great organization as a member of the Board.
Emma received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University, and her MSW from Boston University. She has worked in schools, outpatient mental health settings, and currently works in a specialty medical clinic. Emma lives in Somerville with her husband and their dog and enjoys spending time outdoors and laughing.
