Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator’s role is to support adult  and teen volunteers to insure 24/7 coverage of our helpline in order for the agency to fulfill of its mission of serving the isolated, despairing and suicidal through compassionate and non-judgmental listening.

Overnight Helpline Coordinator 16-40 hours
The Overnight Helpline Coordinator’s role is to ensure 24/7 coverage by responding to helpline calls and supporting and supervising volunteers responding to helpline calls during the overnight (11p-7a EST) shift. The coordinator will provide and oversee the emotional support given to helpline callers in order for the agency to fulfill its mission of serving the isolated, despairing and suicidal through compassionate and non-judgmental listening.  Full time and part time positions available: 16-40 hours per week.

Special Events Coordinator
The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for logistical aspects of fundraising events, which deliver significant revenue to Samaritans, including coordinating corporate and in-kind sponsorships, volunteer and contractor resources and marketing initiatives. This position maintains the calendar of events, venues and, with the Development Manager develops budgets and fundraising goals. Current events include a 5K run/walk, Breakfast for Hope for 600 people, support of a Boston Marathon Team, and independently-run smaller events.

Development and Marketing Intern- Fall 2017 
Samaritans is seeking a Development and Marketing Intern for 15-20 hours per week who enjoys a growth-oriented environment to oversee aspects of our annual fundraising activities. This position reports to Samaritans’ Development Manager.

Crisis Services Internship and Volunteer Opportunities
Samaritans is currently seeking interns and volunteers to staff our 24/7 suicide prevention helpline. Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization and while they come from many different backgrounds and experiences they share a desire to make our community stronger through the simplicity of human connection.

Successful candidates will possess the ability to empathize with others and have strong listening skills. No previous experience is required; all volunteers and interns receive training that will equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide emotional support to callers.

We offer a traditional 9 month commitment of a few hours a week as well as accelerated volunteer commitments for those who have more time to give within a smaller time frame.

We are currently seeking applications (from candidates 15 years of age and older) for the following positions:

  • Adult Volunteers (4 hours per week for 9 months and one overnight shift per month). Applications accepted year round.
  • Teen Volunteers (3 hours per week for 9 months). Applications accepted year round.
  • Accelerated Volunteer Commitment Opportunities (8-16 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months).  Applications are accepted year round.
  • Fall Interns (based upon school requirements). Application Deadline: September 2nd.
