Apply for Team Samaritans for the 2021 Boston Marathon®

Boston Marathon Date: October 11, 2021
Application Deadline: May 10, 2021
Applicants will be notified by: May 21, 2021

Samaritans has participated as a partner of the John Hancock Marathon Non-Profit Program for the past 13 years and looks forward to cheering on Team Samaritans at the 125th running of the Boston Marathon®. The selection of runners for the 2021 Samaritans Marathon Team is competitive and applications will be evaluated based on each applicant’s proposed fundraising commitment/plan, personal story, connection to the organization and mission, and commitment to completing the Boston Marathon.

Our continued participation as a partner in the John Hancock Marathon Non-Profit Program is largely based upon our team’s fundraising success. Our Marathon team’s fundraising represents a significant portion of Samaritans’ operating budget, allowing us to serve more people.

It is very important that runners on our team fulfill their fundraising commitments. We require a minimum fundraising commitment of $10,000/runner, with the understanding that one fourth of your commitment ($2,500) must be met by June 23, 2021 in order for us to release your Boston Marathon registration. We require that you submit a credit card number which will be charged for any shortfall toward that one fourth benchmark, or if you do not reach your final commitment by November 11, 2021. Please note that your application will not be considered complete until you have paid the $26 application fee. A link to pay the fee will be provided after you submit this form.

Please use Google Chrome when completing this form. As this is a competitive selection process, please be sure to complete every answer. After submitting, you should be redirected to pay your fee. If this does not happen, or if you have any other issues, please email [email protected]
  • This is required for the B.A.A. Marathon registration. Runners can run under their identified gender.
  • Communication

  • Running Experience

  • Personal Story and Connection to Samaritans

  • Fundraising Commitment and Plan

Samaritans runners are required to commit to raising at least $10,000. Setting an ambitious, yet realistic, fundraising commitment is very important as team members who do not meet their commitment jeopardize Samaritans' chances of receiving entries from the John Hancock program in the future. We require team members to submit credit card information to meet any shortfall.
  • If selected, you will be responsible for raising this amount and submitting a credit card number to pay any shortfall. Commitment levels will be considered when selecting the team, but please be realistic in what you can commit to raise.
  • This is the amount that you hope to raise. We encourage runners to aim for a goal higher than their financial commitment.

“Our choosing to work closely with this organization is because we really believe they can make a difference.”
