SUMMARY:Virtual SafePlace Meeting for Loss Survivors - Every Wednesday
DESCRIPTION:Losing someone to suicide is a painful and difficult experience. Samaritans SafePlace meetings provide a forum for suicide loss survivors to explore feelings not often understood by others. Meetings are facilitated by trained volunteers who have lost someone to suicide. \nSafePlace is not a professional therapy group\, but rather a peer support group offering nonjudgmental listening\, peer connection\, and shared understanding. It offers a chance to share helpful resources\, and to give and get support through the long process of grieving. Meetings are free\, ongoing\, and drop-in. \nWe understand that you may be unsure about discussing your loss in a virtual support group. Please review our Virtual SafePlace FAQs\, which we hope will address any understandable concerns you may have about privacy and the dynamics of a virtual group. \nThis meeting is held: \n\nEvery Wednesday\n7:00 pm – 8:30 pm ET\nAfter you register\, we will follow up with Zoom meeting details.\n\n\nRSVP

SUMMARY:Supporting LGBTQ+ Families in Uncertain Times
DESCRIPTION:This webinar\, co-hosted by Samaritans and Greater Boston PFLAG\, will explore how caregivers can manage their own mental health while supporting LGBTQ+ youth in their lives over the next four years. \nFamilies of LGBTQ+ individuals\, particularly those with transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) youth\, face unique challenges in a political climate that increasingly threatens their rights and well-being. This webinar will explore how caregivers can manage their own mental health while supporting LGBTQ+ youth in their lives over the next four years. \nFeaturing insights from a GBPFLAG representative\, a mental health expert from Samaritans\, and a parent sharing their lived experiences\, the panel will discuss how to navigate mental health challenges\, validate children’s fears\, and nurture resilience. We’ll also address the importance of suicide prevention and mental health support during times of high stress\, offering resources and strategies to help families stay connected and grounded. Together\, we’ll reflect on LGBTQ+ history—celebrating progress while acknowledging the work still needed. We’ll share with participants practical strategies to sustain hope and well-being while advocating for our community in a time of uncertainty. \nTo protect the privacy of the panelists\, this webinar will not be recorded. \nRegister Now \n  \nPanelists \nKacy C.
