The Samaritans 5K Run/Walk and Family Fun Festival
Celebrating 15 Years of Hope!
The 15th annual Samaritans 5K Run/Walk and Family Fun Festival will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at DCR's Artesani Park in Brighton. The event will start at 8am, and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 10am. Online registration is now open! Please join us - it is a great day to be alive!
Samaritans is a locally based non-profit organization, and all of the proceeds generated from the 5K stay right here in Massachusetts and fund our life-saving services, including our 24/7 helplines, Community Education and Outreach, and Grief Support Services for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. These vital services are available to the families, friends and neighbors that live in our community, free of charge. We are the only suicide prevention walk in the Commonwealth that provides financial support to the 24/7 crisis lines answered by Samaritans, including those calls we answer from the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
The Samaritans 5K is the longest running suicide prevention run/walk in Massachusetts. The course is a USA Track and Field sanctioned 5K that runs along the Charles River based at Artesani Park in Brighton. Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages are welcome. Early registation costs $25 (until September 18th), and late and day-of registration is $30. Participants are also encouraged to form teams and invite family and friends to join them at this wonderful community event. There is no minimum fundraising requirement for teams and there never will be! We want as many people as possible to join us each year for this very special event geared toward generating awareness, creating comunity and raising much needed financial support.
